Hot Body Fitness Team

Alan Koizumi

Alan Koizumi

As a long time avid road cyclist who has enjoyed 100 mile charity rides and three times weekly local rides, Alan wanted to improve his overall cycling performance.  He began spinning in February 2010 and it was not long until his respiratory, cardio, and cadence increased.  Now, as a Hot Body Fitness Spinning instructor, Alan uses the significant changes in his cycling to inspire his workouts profiles.  His endurance profiles are designed to increase your body's ability to burn the excess stored fat which most bodies have forgotten how to do. Interval profiles force you to push your body, in a safe way, past the aerobic threshold.  Strength profiles are just that - it builds your lower body muscles by making your muscle fatigue so that the next time you use them they have the strength to answer the call.  All of these profiles are set to music that he has used on the bike trails of California.

Cynthia Chandler

Cynthia Chandler has worked in the field of women’s health for over 20 years as an organizer, peer educator, and lawyer.  In 2005, she was selected by the Women’s Health Activist Network as one of the Top 30 Activists for Women’s Health in the United States.  In 2001, she was an original recipient of the Ford Foundation's Leadership for a Changing World Award in recognition of her support of the leadership of women in prison in advocating for their own health and human rights.  After having her second child and suffering a series of injuries, Cynthia decided it was time to re-build her mind-body connection.  Spinning classes have been key to her successful loss of over 65 extra “baby” pounds and renewed physical strength.  Cynthia is a certified Spinning Instructor through Mad Dogg Athletics.  She has trained, mentored, and coached over 300 activists, lawyers, and students over the years to become powerful leaders.  Now, she’s thrilled to use those coaching skills to help peers in her San Leandro neighborhood attain their fitness goals.

Michael Fee

Michael Fee

Michael has been riding bikes competitively for years. He has raced road, mountain and cyclecross, and has probably taken 300 Spinning classes. While pursuing an English degree at Stanford Michael took courses in exercise and fitness, and later rode in the National Collegiate Cycling Championships while earning his MBA there. After touring the French Alps with Greg LeMond, Michael had a story published in Cycling’s Greatest Misadventurues – but his proudest accomplishment (by far!) is raising three great kids while running Lango, my East Bay-based kids’ foreign language company.

Michelle Gonzales

Michelle Gonzales

Michelle Gonzales began Spinning at Hot Body Fitness in June of 2008, just a couple of weeks after they opened their doors in San Leandro. She learned to love exercising thanks to her mother who dragged her to aerobics classes in the 1980's, has also studied and practiced cardio-kickboxing, lap swimming, weight training, and Pilates, but had never been inspired enough by an exercise program to seek certification until she began Spinning. Michelle has been a Weight Watchers Lifetime Member since 2004, after reaching her goal weight on the program, and she has maintained her goal weight by eating sensibly and Spinning three to four times per week, in addition to other exercise. Michelle enjoys teaching Spinning because it allows her to be part fitness coach and part DJ. Michelle motivates her students by staying fit, riding hard, using humor, and by encouraging them to form a healthy connection with their bodies. In addition to teaching Spinning, Michelle teaches English at Las Positas College.
